Well here are the numbers! Total printed entries this year are down 11.38% from 2009. Certainly not the catastrophe that many were predicting. Entries in all divisions except 1 were down but only the Rising Star Amateur Latin showed a really significant drop of 82 couples. The total drop in entries over the whole week was 367 couples. The only division to show an increase was the Professional Latin with +5.
i am just sorry for those dancer that spend a year to get ready to compete and then been stop from this show from the "ILLUSIONIST" get back to reality. ONE LIFE, ONLY ONE TIME YOU COULD HAVE DANCE BLACKPOOL IN 2010 and this is now gone, now try to see if someone can give it back to you, and what for ??............. My impression is that the world of dancing is so small that there is no reason to get divided and kill the dreams of peoples only for personal POWER that will lead to nothing. So I really hope that the people can seat at a table and be realistic that they are not KINGS but just " UMILI SERVITORI" of the world of dancing that is the real reason that we should all fight for.
30 years AGO, ITALY was nothing in the Dancing world then we became well known, now it's show from number that we are loosing out again, WHAT A SHAME. I beleive that this will not happen if in the leadership there will be people that LOVE ballroom dancing.
but as I always say I COULD BE WRONG.

LA RISPOSTA DEL PRESIDENTE FIDS
ILLUSIONIST O ALLUCINATED?
Augusto Schiavo, testimonial del festival di Blackpool, non pago della meravigliosa e-mail con la quale offendeva tutti gli atleti che avrebbero obbedito alla decisione della FIDS di non partecipare alla gara inglese, ora ci riprova.
In una nuova press-release parla di illusionisti, riferendosi evidentemente a me e snocciolando dati che, se anche fossero veri e non lo sono (- 11,38 % di diminuzione della partecipazione a Blackpool), in ogni modo contraddicono palesemente ciò che egli sostiene.
Dimostrazione: l'ennesima occasione persa si stare zitto e fare bella figura.
A Blackpool partecipano decine di nazioni, ben più di 40 per cui ogni nazione incide per poco più del 2,5%.
Russia ed Italia da sole hanno inferto un colpo (dice Schiavo scopiazzando il compitino sbagliato da qualche mezzo di informazione amico) di oltre l'11. Per cui siamo e restiamo le nazioni più grandi.
Esorta a sederci tutti ad un tavolo perché non ci sono re ma solo umili servitori. Ci sarebbe da sbellicarsi dalle risate guardano il pulpito da cui viene la predica.
Lui che gestisce un franchising di ballo sociale, in Italia non ha una coppia, parla per l'Italia?
Suvvia maestro Schiavo, non sia ridicolo. Io capisco che quando le luci della ribalta si spengono su un grande campione l'ego ne risente ma stare al centro dell'attenzione scrivendo e dicendo baggianate non mi sembra una buona idea.
Se c'erano Re della danza sportiva questi sicuramente non siamo stati mai noi che abbiamo sempre pagato l'ingresso (caro e salato) per entrare nel modernissimo winter garden.
Per cui, faccia attenzione, maestro Schiavo che se noi sembriamo illusionisti decidendo liberamente di non partecipare ad una gara, Lei sembra allucinato nel dire cose che la realtà dei fatti si prende compito di smentire passo dopo passo.
In ogni caso complimenti per l'ennesima perla linguistica...
PS. Che io non l'abbia capito e questo linguaggio sia il modo di esprimersi di uno vestito tricolore che si sposta sconsolato per i winter gardens?
